Favourite Children's Shows

There aren't many children's shows that appeal to me these days. Probably because I am no longer a little child (obviously)or the quality of children's shows and cartoons have drastically decreased. Teletubbies annoy me to no end, the Wiggles are a little too weird and rather lame for my liking, and Fat Cat reminds me too much of the Malaysian copycat ALONG (I couldn't even find a picture of Si Along).

The best memories of childhood tv lies with Sesame Street, Lamb Chop, and a storyteller called Shirley Duvall or something. Not many people have heard of Shirley Duvall, and I don't even know if I have her surname right. All I remember is this woman on tv with long hair saying 'Hi. I'm Shirley Duvall." and she strokes a horse or something like that before or after every show.

I loved Kermit the Frog, Bert and Ernie, but I thought Cookie Monster and Oscar were a little bit disgusting. That was when I was a little tot, but now I love 'em all! Except maybe Elmo who is a little bit over-commercialised.

Now to the not-so-innocent programs I used to watch:
Transformers, Blue, the Earth Child (which was just so wrong) - a blue boy robot on a surf board or something..., Thundercats, Conan the Barbarian, He-Man (which I thought was so too male- like in other words chauvanistic) and Dinosaucers!! And who could forget Inspector Gadget?

Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs

Thunder thunder thunder...thundercatss!! This is exactly how I remember it...!

And who can forget- Bravestarr!! Oh my this video brings back sooo many memories!

GI Joe is there...! I wasn't very happy when a GI Jane surfaced.

He-Man! I used to make fun of this one because it was just so funny!

And what about Gaban....dear old Gaban

And Baja Hitam at 4pm every Monday? I used to watch it before going to Brownies!

You'd think a little girl would have grown up watching My Little Pony, CareBears and other girly cartoons which I don't recall any- but this is the result of having two wonderful brothers and a love for action. I must admit I didnt' have any ponies or carebears growing up- but we did have lots of transformer toys and the whole set of Thundercats!

And just for laughs, here is the Malaysian version of batman. One cartoon we made fun and laughed till we had stitches:

Enjoy!
