Baby on Board!

Have you seen one of these recently?

What goes through your mind?

Or is it 'just another sign' like the animals crossing sign most people ignore?

Well. There is a REASON why people put this sign up on their cars.

And it is not just to tell the whole world that you have a baby.

Being an occupant of such, I have come to a realisation- nobody cares whether you have this sign on your car or not. Not in WA, anyway.

So here are some things to think about the next time you see this sign.
1. There is a baby in the car. This means the driver is being extra careful and driving ACCORDING TO THE LAW.

2. It is not polite to tailgate a car with a baby in it.

3. The baby may be screaming, crying, pooing or whatever-ing that is probably making the driver uncomfortable and stressed. Imagine driving with a screaming baby in your backseat and not being able to soosh it and at the same time trying to concentrate on the road and getting to where you need to get to.

4. There may be more than one baby. In that case, double the above.

5. There may be a sleeping baby in the car and the driver may have not had much sleep for weeks, and is trying their best to stick to the law and this is the first time they've had some peace and quiet. Honking is not considered peace and quiet.

6. They may be rushing somewhere. Someone close to me once saw a four wheel drive on the freeway frantically honking the cars in front of it. And in that FWD was a child that lay unconscious.
7. Be patient. Be thankful that you have all the time in the world when others may just not.

8. Be selfless. Think when you drive. Driving is not just starting a car engine, it is about being courteous and helpful on the road.

There may be other reasons too, and it not only applies to the cars with the babyonboard sign.

So, the next time before you start your car, think.

Your actions may just be the only act of kindness someone receives that day.
